I have fished in Costa Rica and they have a good fishery. The fishing was better before recent commercial fishing pressure from outside of Costa Rica. Besides the traditional fishing on the Caribbean and Pacific sides don't miss out on their freshwater fishing. I stayed at a resort called Tabacon that is near the Arenal volcano. At the base of the volcano is Lake Arenal. I hired a guide and he took me and my son out and we caught a variety of fish including something that looked and fought like a tarpon (10-15lbs) something called a rainbow bass (looked like a big mouth bass but had teeth). We did this trip about 5 years ago. The surfing on the Pacific side is world class. Hope you get to go!
