heres some tips that i find important for new boaters/fisherman.
    (1) Be Corteous and Safe! if you see a boat working a shoreline on trolling motor with a lady standing on the bow throwing a fly rod Control Yourself! do not run 30ft from the boat on half plane cut 40ft ahead of the boat and stop in front of them. i undersatand you probably have only one place you ever caught a fish but go find another or come back when the boat finishes.
    (2) Try your best not to fish in narrow marked channels (which is illegal anyway) and more importantly in narrow unmarked channels. Especially when the tide is lower the paths can be very narrow and shallow therefore the boat on plane can not go around or stop.If a boat stops in shallow water they may have to idle for a few hundred yards or more before theres enough water to jump on plane, in short no one is going to stop and be forced to blow right by you.
    (3) there are No Walleye in the gulf of Mexico so dont waste time trying to catch them.
    (4) If there are little kids and a father on a boat fishing a point and you Must come within 15 ft of the boat to go around them in the open Gulf Then Idle around dont go around them plowing on half plane endangering the passengers aboard by throwing a massive wake. Basically stay away from boats fishing if possible in most cases it really takes no effort at all to go way around the boat fishing.
