7-30-2011 SLI ... CLEAN FEET... ANOTHER GREAT DAY ON THE WATER

Team Let's Go, after thoroughly washing our feet and getting a pedicure out of respect to Dan (Reel C's) left the dock at 0700am with Bo (Let's Go), Tom (MT Pockets), Chad (aka SAILMAN Plane Fish n) and Eric (Plane Fish n) in search of the elusive... well ... any fish that wasn't a bonito.

We arrived at the north end of the park buoy to the ARMADA of boats in search of some good baits.

We did get some greenies, a few small cigar minnows and a bunch of small blue runners.

We moved up towards Bullshark and we hit the mother lode at this point. After loading up with bait, we headed east in search of the elusive "nervous water", weedline or color change.

We put in 1 flatline, 2 outriggers, a downrigger and a daisy chain and decided to troll until we came across something to throw the livey's at. In 210', the downrigger goes off and as soon as it bent the rod, the line went slack. We reeled in the line with NOTHING attached. The number 7 wire leader, red and black islander lure and bait.. GONE!!!!!!

We decided to search for more weed and we came upon this pallet floating. It produced...NADA!

Off we went again in search of something. When we got to about 290', we came across this Contender (nice boat guys) fighting a nice sail that gave an aerial show. After trolling the area for about 10 minutes, we put in some livey's and WHAM... Eric's rod starts to scream. The rod was handed over to Chad while we put some more baits in the water and after 10 minutes of tug and war (but no shaking head.. ), the 30lb line breaks.

We pulled the lines in and made a run and gun in to about 160' searching for the sailfish bite thanks to Pete on MY OTHER HONEY.

Eric's line starts to scream again and the rod is handed to chad as we again try to bait up some more rods..

Now, we have to mention that the baitwell on the Everglades is awesome but the net that is being used is a piece of crap. We aren't sure but we think it has a hole in the middle of it because everytime it is dipped in and we try to scoop one of 30 baits, we come up empty.

Meanwhile...

After 8 minutes... here it comes.. that elusive.. the fantastic.. the unbelievable... BONITO!!!! You gotta be kidding!

Well, we decided to call it a day... and ... oh yeah... we put the bait net in it's appropriate place.

Seriously, a fun day on the water.... and great times with great friends.
