Fishing with my usual crew of Patrick and Steve yesterday, met at Sandsprit. Pat cast netted what would work out to be just enough mullet to get us through the day and off we were just a bit after six. Headed straight for the hill but stumbled on BFT breaking the surface in 200 foot. Threw out some chains and feathers and began our troll right there. Wasn't long before we had rods going off and nice size BFT coming over the rail. Worked that area for our fill of 5 BFT...All nice size except for one smaller guy. Trolled towards Push button and hooked a huge dolphin. I've boated one nice fin over 40 pounds and this one was clearly bigger. It hit Pat's rod with one of his green squids with a smaller treble hook trailing and it wasn't enough to stay in his lip. The fish launched once or twice and I started clearing lines but all Pat brought in was a treble hook with two prongs bent straight. Oh well...Pat lost his trophy fish but was quickly redeemed when we hooked a Sail on the long rigger with a pink squid. Cleared lines and soon had Pat's first Sail on board for the video and quickly released. We trolled that area and picked up a slinger fin before deciding to run deeper... We too a look out there going till about 1000 foot and passed by Jeff and Brian out there.
Finding nothing we went back in towards the hill again but again did not make it there. Found a bucket in 350 or so and it was loaded with a few Triple Tail and smaller fish. We were able to get one nice Triple off it and the the fins showed up. We had 3 on at once and ended the day 4 off the bucket. Great day offshore and greater going home with a full box. It's been awhile for us and we were due for a day like this.
I did not have my camera so all pics were taken back at home. I have some video to edit up though...

I bet it was a hook...
Hey nice day out there! I love triple tail!
The crew caught it and they each took a filet home, I didn't get to eat it but they both enjoy eating fish much more that I do so it was an easy choice for me. I'm just glad to have some dolphin again!
