fishing the rocks

I will be heading down this weekend and will have a short window on saturday to fish a bit. I usually bring my boat, or take a charter to fish offshore, but will not do so this time. I know growing up fishimg with my dad on th eeast coast of Florida we fished a lot from rock piles around bridges and such. I was wondering what can be caught from the rocks on the west side of the pass? Thought I may bring a pole and just try it.....

No jetty expert, but I would think you might get lucky and find a flounder. In the next couple months they should be heading out to the gulf.

Hopefully, someone can jump in here and give you a hand.

You should have no problem catching something:

    Redfish
    black seabass
    spanish
    flounder
    king
    grouper
    black snapper
    bonito

Bring your rod and go see the boys at Howell or Half Hitch and have them set you up with some tackle. If you have two rods I'd bring both and figure out a way to position one on the rocks with the reel out of gear to soak a live bait. The with the other rod fish live shimp, or a jig on the bottom, or cut bait, or lure for toothy critters. Live bait on a long cast will fish itself, and then so you don't get board you can work the other rod.
