I recently purchased a piece of land between Overstreet and Mexico Beach to have a place to fish and maybe retire someday.I haved fished out of Mexico Beach good bit and am quiet familar with the gulf there. The question I have is what kind of fishing is there in the river or innercoastal or whatever it is that runs threw Overstreet? It looks like there should be some good fishing in that area but I am not familar with that area. Also is that brackish or freshwater around overstreet ? thanks

West is as Old Dog says Wetapo and East Bay. There are some islands at the begining of East bay that were my favorite. We've caught bull reds, trout, and sail cat there. Everybody talkes bad about old slimey but mr sail cat is quite a fighter. I used to hook them in the evenings on top waters. One night I saw something break the surface, I turned and shot my brand new Top Dog, $6, at it. That is when the biggest gar I've ever seen rose to the bait and for a few seconds was on my line..............then it swam off with my lure.
Half way to PC in east bay is a shell bar that sticks out from Tyndal that always produced trouts and reds. Around that area once I saw two trees crossing the bay. Getting closer I saw that they were deer makeing the mile or so swim to get away from Tyndal hunters. Deer ain't dumb.
During scallop season I'd make the 5 mile run to the canal and go out the canal to fish St Joe Bay. Easy run just look out for trees floating in the water. The PSJ boat ramps were always crowded.
During the winter I'd make the run to the canal and fish it. Seems to be warmer and fish bunch up in there during the cold months.
Once and a while I'd make the run to White City and Wimico. Seems the bass over there can't get enough shrimp.
