Shimano waxwing knot

Some say clinch knot others loop knot? What is it? I am tying 30lb. mono leader to my first waxwing. Yeah, I went out and bought 2 waxwings. I do a lot of surf fishing and the way these things look in the water intrigues me. So is it loop or clinch?

Actually fish the waxwing with no leader using straight Power Pro. It will swim much better. Do not use a loop knot.

Thanks! But do I really have to use braid? I use a low stretch high quality mono with a medium heavy rod and chronarch reel.

The waxwing will swim much better with braided line. There is too much stretch in mono to allow it to kick correctly. You loose some of that because of the line stretch. If you choose to use a leader make sure it is heavy fluorocarbon and nothing longer than 8" or so. The reason I say heavy line is because it is stiff and usually does not stretch as much. You also need a rod with a softer tip section.
