fish ID please

i caught a few of these in a cast net while trying to get some shiners.
originally i thought they were shad, so i did a little research and the fish ID pictures of shad species in Florida seem different than this fish.
ive seen cormorants come up with them all the time and ive seen them tail flip on the surface from time to time.
they were all 9-10" in length.
the mouth is very small and on the underside of the head, the eyes seem to be larger, and the body seems to be taller than a shads.
maybe just a different species of shad, i dont know. any help is appreciated.

Shad shaped but your right the mouth does not look shad like. I'm thinking another non-native.??
    Looks like bass food though.

Gizzard shad, too big to be a threadfin.
