Matlacha maiden voyage

Headed out to matlacha today and put in a little ways down from DandD bait. Current and tide weren't making things easy, but we paddled around and did some exploring. Didn't fish super hard cause I had my 3 year old son with me. He had a blast though and I know he'll be thrilled when we start getting on ANY kind of fish. Curious to know how many of you guys are in the fort Myers/cape coral area. I'm anxious to find some productive spots and decent launch sites. Check out should give you plenty of launch spots. I've been without a yak for awhile, so can't help with how the fishing has been. I used to do pretty good fishing off Bunche beach, some snook up in the creek there, trout, snapper, ladyfish, bluefish, spanish macs and small grouper( some bigger ones in the winter) about 100-300 yards off the beach. I would usually just drift and then anchor when I found the fish. Tropical Point and Pineland on Pine island gave me some good days fishing also.

Good times; my daughter just turned 3, so I'm hoping to get her out on the kayak pretty soon.

Snookcharmer: thanks for the tip in bunch beach. Been out there with the fam for swimming and such and though it looked fishy, but that they wouldn't be close in. I'll make a trip out there and post up some pics(hopefully of fish....)

Yakangler: we had a blast. Ya gotta keep it fun for em though. My son's highlight moment was peeing off the side of the yak and removing grass from my gulp jighead. Lol.
