Bull Creek - Crabgrass Road

wintermutewintermute Posts: 3 Greenhorn
Sort of a weird question but is the road into Bullcreek WMA still like a waffle/ruffle-chip, ridges/bumps the whole way in? That is one of my favorite spots but I am farther away then previously and in a car that isn't the best at handling that type of road so just wanted to see if that might have been fixed up.

if the state would do the RIGHT thing and give it back to the Kempher family, it'd be fixed...
I am glad to only be a bird hunter with bird dogs...being a shooter or dog handler or whatever other niche exists to separate appears to generate far too much about which to worry.

Trying to find some pictures it looks like it may be paved now. Is that true? That would be pretty great.

ONE OF THE WORST THINGS THE STATE CAN DO IS PAVE A ROAD IN A WMA FOR BETTER ACCESS.

ON ONE HAND THEY DON'T ALLOW ACCESS TO THOUSANDS OF ACRES OF LOCKED LAND, WHILE ON THE OTHER THEY MAKE IT EASY ENOUGH FOR A FREAKING 1973 GREMLIN TO DO 60, AND CATCH AIR ON A SPEED BUMP.  MAKES NO SENSE TO THIS OL COWBOY.

Road is passable. Stay on the west side of the loop roads. I *think* the bridge is still out on the east but you can get to/hunt to the bridge...1/2 down the east loop. Used to be sugar sand that cars can't handle...now no problem..hard road..some pitting/holes you can avoid.

    Enjoy!

Agree with you Mak. Had conversations with water management district thirty plus years ago. We hunters had to camp in the right-of-way ditch to hunt the Lower Hillsborough. All we got was access. It was a one and done.

They then opened the area (it’s a “well field”) up to passive recreation and added a canoe launch, kiosk and hiking trails identifying the trees and plants for the non-hunter recreational users.

    We just need access…

I wish the fwc would put cattle on all wmas and pay for gravel road maintenance with the revenue like they do in other states with sharecropper revenue. Everyone wins.

I find it a bit entertaining...... Take, Dinner Island, Ocala, etc... The main Grades are easy.... Any car can run the main grades... The side roads are another matter....  In Dinner the side roads are quite sporty right now...

It is quite entertaining to find someone stuck.....  If they have a tow point I can hook to without my strap contacting anything that is plastic or painted...

they must have hired the cheapest company in the USA               speed up hit the brakes    speed up hit the brakes      i guess 25 speed bumps are better then 2 miles of constant vibration.
