Hey all, this is my first post so I apologize if I'm breaking a rule or something. But just recently started fishing in the past couple months and I catch a ton of these in the canal by my house. Just wondering what kind of fish it is, maybe an oscar? And is it ok to eat? Thanks!

They are highly invasive taking over most of the canals in South Florida.
They are nice white meat, similar to mangrove snapper.
We don't keep any under 11 inches just cause there's not much on the smaller ones.
We've eaten a tone of them
Of course, they fight much harder than crappie...
