    Must of been one of those Vietnamese stingrays from the Mekong.  I've seen them on tv that Jeremy Wade fellow.

    Yes, it was the Mekong.

    Yah, yah, yah, it's a big'un all right, but hardly the "largest freshwater fish."  You see the same kind of blather about the Amazonian Arapaima, too, but neither is nearly as large as a big Sturgeon.

    Yup, I thought Sturgeon top 1000 lbs.

    I've seen pictures of one caught in the Fraser River, B.C., Canada, that was caught back in the....'30s, I think, that was 1900#.  They pulled it out with a Model T or Model A....not sure.  I've "heard" that some Russian fish get over 3000#....the ones they get Beluga Caviar from.  With poaching and all, I think those really big ones are pretty much extinct now.  

    A friend in Idaho caught and showed pictures of one he caught in the Snake River that was 11 ft long....but no way to weigh it.  9 footers are "fairly" common.  Mine was 5'3" and very heavy bodied.  We estimated it at 105#.
