  I went with what was available and what I could afford. I got a Goodman unit 3-ton, pretty basic. I believe the original 17 year old Trane was an 11 seer. The Goodman is 14 seer…definitely cools the house quicker than the old Trane did. A friend of mine is an A/C contractor…he gave me a great deal. He did mention that all manufacturers are way up on their pricing right now.

  Make sure you file for the warranty or make sure your installer did.  Means the difference between 5 years and 10 years. 
  
  Goodmans are good units and have come a long ways since Daikin took over.
  
  I just installed a Bryant but would have gone Goodman if I hadn't have gotten such a good deal.
