Hit Shell Mound at 2pm (low tide was at 1130ish AM). Not a lot of bait activity - no finger mullet in the cast net. Did get 3-4 silver minnows every other throw though, so at least I had something to fish with.
Catch for the day included a whiting which became cut bait, a 12" redfish, 2 8" spotted trout, 1 catfish that was good eating size (15" or so) if you are into that kind of thing, 2 catfish about 8" long, 3 rays the size of a dinner plate, and a massive ray that was ~38" wing tip to wing tip and ~40" nose to start of tail. Took me 30 minutes to get that one in.
Other people fishing were catching about the same from the pier, including two other really big rays. One guy who was there at sun-up said he was getting tons of shrimp in his cast net just at dawn. Couple of guys were wading out in front of the boat ramp and were getting a few trout but nothing keeper size.
Did see a massive black drum cruising the weedline right along the pier but no one could get a proper bait in front of it in time.
