Had a lovely weekend fishing Key West with Aaron Snell. Light winds, good skies in general.
First day missed a couple bonefish, had some failed permit shots. There were a lot of lit-up blacktips around, in the 50-pound range. Aaron asked if I wanted to catch one. Put on a big, purple-with-flash pike-looking fly and got bit immediately. No chum, no teasing. The fish fought a lot like a tarpon. I asked Aaron if I could have been catching them for the last ten years ... he said sure.

Came back Sunday and a school of mullet was getting hammered in 18 inched of water. Put on a big pink sailfish-looking chugging fly, trying for the blacktips. Got hooked up on a nice tarpon on my fifth poor cast (hard to cast the thing with a #10).

Got our bonefish by 10 am. This fly is one tied by either greenie-slayer or CWFlies from here on the forum. I honestly don't know which. Thanks guys!!

Spent the rest of the day after the permit. Got lots of good shots. Two or three follows, and one grab ... but no permit.
