There isn’t many that can keep up with me or honestly put up with me ALL day, although Bob can………I think he turns his hearing aids off!
was off at 9:30 a.m. with Bob and six dozen shrimp. First dock in Hell’s
Gate and Bob’s first cast he landed a nice Snook. It didn’t take long and
Bob put a second Snook in the boat…..I couldn’t buy a bite. The Snapper
bite turned on and they were respectable Snapper, we must have caught over a
dozen legal Mangrove Snapper, NO, I don’t keep them to eat, too much work to
fishing, Captain James Cronk, 772 Fly and Light Tackle Charters came over and
gifted me about ten dozen bite sized Greenies, half dozen Croakers along with
some “local knowledge” as his charter was completed and he had tons of bait
left over. Truly admirable and appreciated. He slayed the Tarpon
this morning on his charter. If anyone wants a great guide, I highly
recommend James. Thank you again.
to fishing, we put those Greenies to good use slaying more Snook along the
beach, as long as we could physically take it, check out the picture of “The
Rapids”. The ocean was very calm, although the incoming tide wrapping
around the jetty with the outgoing wind/waves made a challenging mix. We
could have slayed hundreds of Snook, although it wasn’t fun. Sailfish
Point the Snook were present although the trolling motor wouldn’t keep up with
the fast running tide. We hit some docks near the Crossroads and I landed
another Snook and we headed back to Hell’s Gate where Bob landed a gorgeous, 21
inch Tripletail which joined him for dinner. Sadly, the bite was on but
so was the timer on my clock and I had to call it at 4:30 to get home and get
to a meeting. Sometimes responsibility interferes with fishing.
a great day with Bob who is always a pleasure to have on the boat. We
slayed 13 Snook (Keith 8, Bob 5), dozens of big Mangrove Snapper, 1 Tripletail
at 21 inches, 1 Needlefish, and too many Catfish to count.
