  better off launching bayport ramp.  not sure yer boat size or draft, but ive bounced a few times over the years in smaller boats. seen 1.5 ,1.6,  1.8ft at lower tides.  stay in channel and get on plane real quick after manatee signs/pier.

  that place has always had my curiosity peaked. i know Elvis made a movie there(kissing cousins, i think). the wife and i stopped close to there once and i told her we need it investigate the place, but still haven't.

  I've taken my bay boat under it.   my boss has taken his 27' Sea hunt under it both with T tops.   It's not fun with all the yakers around though.

  Great to hear. We have a 26” hydra sport that will with the T-Top will be about 8’6” above the water line. We have rented a place on the east side of that bridge and are really hoping to be able to access the gulf without having to launch at bay port

  As others have said there's a lot better places to launch.  That said if you want to risk the rocks, shallows and all, there's a snook hole at the last S curve at the last house on your port going out (loaded with them).  End of this movie is the grouper ground I marked in the 80's:
  "How To Find Fishing Spots YouTube Video" - plenty of people go out there now but they rarely go past the reference gps# - the reference number is just the start of extensive finger reefs.

  Elvis visited weeki wachee, as well. Probably mermaid related. Yeah i heard the river had reached capacity and manatees and fish don't even wanna be there. not sure what they r gonna do about. not much grass left. never recovered fully after 2014... been getting more and popular.

  Agreed.  Packed with people in summer and hard to fish it except fall & winter (if they have it - pretty much one hot season now).  One of the reasons we left and the other is my back after a couple airplane crashes will no longer take the crash and dash (those of you there know what I mean) to the grouper grounds and back.

  All our natural resources are experiencing heavy to crowded conditions. Places we would get out and wade ten years ago are now popular “sandbar” hangouts at low tide. Today it’s a flotilla of music, alcohol and some bathing suits stretched beyond their design. 

  
  

  I just spent a week at a beach, and can’t believe the number of umbrella/sun shelters that went up at morning, and stayed till near the sunset hour. It’s a good thing they dredged this particular beach a year ago to handle the shear volume. 
  A guy in the pool from up north, said all his friends are planning their moves to Florida for the weather and the “zero” personal income tax.

  Thanks for all the info guys. We had a great trip last weekend. Got our 10 gallons of scallops both days. Caught a half dozen blue crabs Friday night. Mullet in the net. All made for a grand feast on Saturday night. Scallop 3 ways. Ceviche, pan seared, and gumbo. Boiled crabs, and smoked mullet. 

  
  

  Made it under the bridge by 2 feet even at high if anyone is curious. Worst part about the trip out was making it from the hospital hole to that bridge. Kayakers are a nuisance.
