Peacock bass

A well kept secret is Collier Co.has peacock bass. They
started off being stocked in the Golden Gates canals and
from there were restocked by fishermen in the various
ponds and water retention areas.My opinion,a 3lb.
peacock will give you a better fight than 6 lb largemouth.

Have not been there but was told the ramp area off
of Santa Barbara was a good place to catch peacocks.
       Your fishing from the shore.

Should not have to fish from shore. Our tax dollars paid for that ramp in the park.

I suppose this applies to all ramps in Collier. But,
that would not be wise if someones backing a boat
down.........I'm going to tell them boat owner,I have
a right to fish on the ramp because I paid taxes.Last
sound I may hear would be SQUISH that would be me!

What was the rational to closing the ramps after they were built by the county??

A video taken by a homeowner of a couple of jet skis being piloted in a very dangerous manner. County closed and locked all gates after that.

What about the ramp just north of POI,freshwater side of Faka-Union? I've caught peacocks there. Doesn't that connect with the GG canal system?

I assume your talking about the ramp by the gun club? Havent been there in years. and dont think its county owned.
Ramp at the "T" you use to be able to gain access to in the blocks. Not sure now.

The gun club ramp is good for smaller boats. Since the federalies have started reclaiming the canals up there the fishing has gone down hill a bit. Haven’t seen a pea up there for a few years but still some good largemouths  , snook and a surprise juvie or two
