Snapper day

28 June  2021...Wabasso/Vero...Water back to where I like it, dirty brown.  First stop, Hobart Landing, a pair of short Trout, legal Snapper, short Snook and a U - 2.  Slow, so head South.  Pine Island tip, 2 short Snook and an anorexic 13.5 inch Flounder, glad to see one.  Grand Harbor very disappointing.  Shot at a large Snook cruising the Mangroves, not in the mood.  Saw one of the big bobbers, attached to a Manatee.  Bethel Creek, slow, Hard Head Cats and more Snapper.  Another case of crying time, 3 huge Snook under my favorite dock, no players.  Estuary, small Tarpon rolling, no hits,  Johns Island/Vero.  Short Sheepshead, big Sail Cat and several Snapper.  Passed on a way over fun sized Tarpon.  Fishing tight to a dock, had an 18 inch Prince hit right at the boat.  Johns Island Bridge, over size Snook hit and ran between the pilings, bad place, thick with Oysters, cut the line.  Head for home, stop at Hobart.  More Snapper, Had 6 Snapper between 10.5 and 11 inches.  Little time left, work Pine Island, maybe a Red.  Not today, one of the pockets, hooked a small Snapper.  Almost to the boat, a flash and it grew some serious legs.  Finally got it in, Snapper replaced by a 23 inch Trout.  Almost an instant replay at the tip.  Small Snapper, Sail Cat  tried to eat it three times.  Snapper hooked deep so no hookup.  All players released for future encounters.

Couple years ago along Pine Island I had a 26" trout steel a gold spoon away from a small barracuda. Boated the trout and released her. Fish can be very competitive sometimes.
