We've had a pretty good week considering the weather was hit or miss. The shrimp are increasing slowly in numbers in the Orange Park area. We have been crushing the hybrids, cats and getting a few good reds and keeper mangroves. Those little mangroves drive me crazy!! Oh, and bass...I have caught them on everything from baby croaker, cut crab and cut lady fish...hooked one on artificial (spoon) the other afternoon but couldn't land him. Here's my report if you would like to watch! https://youtu.be/TMZY4b_g67k
Hard to tell from the pictures......but are a couple of those real stripers? Don't see broken lines on a couple....??
Catching most of the stripers inside the lake?
We don't usually target them but in the old days.....like 35-40 years ago!!.....the docks just inside the lake, up to about the first point on the south side......they seemed to hold more than docks out in the main stem of the river. Also caught quite a few along the seawall on a hard falling tide just on the outside and south side of the bridge.
Heck of a report and catch. One of these days I would love to get out there and learn to target the hybrids, and true stripers. We will occasionally go and target them in the winter up here in the St. Mary's river, but that's the extent to my dealings with them.
