First time to the panhandle. Want to fish, wife and daughters want beach and shopping.where to stay?

Hello everybody! Cant wait to finally see the emerald waters of the panhandle after watching it on tv so often. Will be visiting in August for a few days. I know there are many places to stay, and many communities. My goal is to find a place with or near a dock or a seawall, or park, or a pier and just fish all day. Wife and daughters want to sit on a beach and/or shop. We are flying to Pensacola and we are happy to settle in anywhere between Pensacola and Destin. It's is so hard to figure out where to stay. Any advice greatly appreciated. On tripadvisor somebody recommended DestinWest Condos, I think it fits the bill, but I am worried about some of the reviews. Any thoughts greatly appreciated! Oh, and not too far from a bait shop would also be helpful. THANK YOU!
Larry

If willing to go a little farther look into Venture Out Resort Panama City. It’s on east end of beach next to Saint Andrews State Park. It has fishing pier/boat dock on bay and walking distance to gulf pier at Saint Andrews State Park. Has a beach pool and pool on bay. About 3 miles to Half Hitch Tackle. All units have golf carts for transporting you around the property. Has a private entrance to the beach.  Any questions just PM .
