Family of lady who was shot breaking into Capital files lawsuit

cadmancadman Home of the Gators Posts: 38,529 AG
They are seeking $10 million when the lady was shot while committing a crime. Sorry, but if you play dangerous games. dangerous results happen. Were they just supposed to ask her not to break in to the room where congressional representatives were?

The family of Ashli Babbitt, who was fatally shot while participating in the Jan. 6 invasion of the U.S. Capitol, plans to sue the police department and the officer who fired the gun for at least $10 million.

News of the forthcoming lawsuit, first reported by Newsweek, came more than two weeks after the Justice Department said it would not file criminal charges against the officer who killed Babbitt.

Cities have paid out millions of dollars to thugs families that were committing crimes and shot by police so what is the difference?

None, that's why none should ever win a lawsuit.

A lot of families of perps with long rap sheets asking for money these days, from cops , cities and towns and then putting the cops in jail.

Seems perfectly appropriate these days. At least she didn’t seem to have a long history of law breaking.

I agree, unless the cop is convicted of wrong doing, you get shot committing a crime, you get no money.

I was kind of surprised that only one person got shot during that whole fiasco.  I don't know the laws regarding the capitals police authority to use deadly force(gun fire).  If they don't have the authority to do so, can someone or group just strong arm them and gain control(kind of what happened)

Good shoot beep bop boop. I love my government. I want them to be safe from Duck Dynasty terrorists so that they can keep telling me what to do, how to feel, and raise my taxes. Their dentures, hair transplants, cosmetic surgeries, mansions, and private jets are certainly not going to pay for themselves.  That’s where We The People come in.  I may only make $94 dollars a week at my Starbucks job, but am happy to contribute what I can.  I took my stimmy check and stockpiled my mother’s cellar with authentic Chinese soy to help fight the cow farts of death.

LOL........none of which has anything to do with attacking our country's capitol building while a dual session of congress is going on.

Yeah very easily, you’re wishfully thinking, or to be more precise, wishfully ‘feeling’.  In fact, projecting.  My posts trigger you so much you even use a meme I directed at you as your avatar.  Have a good nite buddie, got bigger, more challenging fish to fry this evening.

Which is it? Rent free or lease?  You can’t have your soy and eat it too.

Seriously though I hope you have a stellar night.  I know I will, g2g.

Have they released any information about the shooter yet?
There must have been some large protests about it?

I think the police man was right and the lady Ms Babbitt, was wrong. An unfortunate circumstance.
I think that what upset a lot of people is after months of seeing rioting, looting and burning allowed ( pretty much without penalty) suddenly this time it was terrible.
I know it's the Capitol, it's my Capitol too, but the federal buildings in Portland-Seattle and police stations in other places, not to mention the private property destroyed were all important to somebody too. But that was all tolerated since it was against Orange Man. But suddenly when the same tactics (although on a much lesser scale) are used against the other side , it's terrible, it's the end of the world, the sky is falling.
Pardon me if I am not tolerant of the hypocrisy be spewed about.
Well said. Meanwhile 100s of cops quiting forces around the country. That's gonna have a bigger effect than the Jan 6 riot

Very soon L.James will post the pic. Oh, the hypocrisy 😏

Anyway she was looking for troubles and she found them. It doesn’t matter which was her side, if she was right or wrong. She did a crime and she paid the price.
Hope the family won’t get a dime (although I’m sure they would have get millions if the lady was rioting for the opposite side of the political spectrum).

Her family doesn't deserve a dime. She attacked the seat of my government while both houses were in session. Whether I agree with her concepts does not matter. She's a stinking traitor who deserved what she got.
    This.

It was a coup.  Did she think congress was just going to roll over and allow a dictatorship?

Those who stormed the capital should be thankful there wasn't more body bags.

it was not a coup. It was a bunch of idiots that took a peaceful protest too far. I have no problem with the arrests. Should the family get money? No but they have a right to sue just like the other side did and received settlements. They were wrong too.

Storming the capital building with the sole intent to stop a democratic process to ensure your guy stays president despite losing the election is a coup.  You all can sugar coat it all day, but it was obscene in all sense.

And people calling riots "peaceful protests" are just as delusional.

Don't know if you picked up the sarcasm or not. For four + years the MSM has been calling riots "peaceful protests".
