Rain Helped

21 Apr 2021...Wabasso/Vero…Days like this lead to nightmares.  As usual, started at Hobart Landing.  Little on the slow side, lot of bumps, no hook ups.  Cast across the point, solid hit, did not recognize the fight.  Good reason, Round Tail Grouper.   Mangrove Snapper in the legal category were plentiful.  Out to the island, Sailcat on top water and 22 inch Trout on the Baby Vudu Shrimp.  Give Pine Island a shot.  Not a total waste, found a Rat Red. Time for a change of scenery.  Long run to the South Vero Bridge looking for Sheepshead.  Nothing but Snapper off of the pilings.  Move into the Power Plant Canal, little disappointed, small Snook and a Cuda.  Time to work the docks.  Big shadow moving under a dock ready to make a long skip cast.  Fish rolled a little, seeing spots, big Cuda, dumped the cast.  Lots of big Snook cruising, but no players.  At the back, counted 5 Tarpon rolling, again no players.  Working docks on the way out, bump, hook a baby Sheepie.  Next cast to a pocket, a way over fun size Tarpon.  Surprised that no other boats were working the area.  Enough fun and frustration, head back North.  Quick stop at the ditch by the Barber ST Bridge, back into favorite pocket.  Scraped a little gel coat off of the hull.  Not good today, one Tarpon rolling, Shark cruising and Grass Carp getting bigger.  One Snapper for all the effort.  Johns island/Vero, bigger Sheepshead on the move.  Only managed one baby.  Found the second Trout for the day, barely legal.  Afternoon stop at Hobart, working the channel edge rocks, a baby Square Tail Grouper, a strange Snapper along with several legal Snapper.  Pine Island, another odd line Snook.  All players released for future encounters.
