  I remember stories of commercial AJ fishermen encountering them off of the Humps and wrecks during the AJ spawn. Seems like they time their migration from the Gulf to back up north to coincide with this food supply. I'd say your friend is correct.

  Some fifty years ago i saw a 16 ft Great White being followed by a smaller one that was probably a male. This was also down at Tavernier.

  Wouldn't doubt it. The keys are frequented by whites all the time. That tracker only has a small sampling of whites in their system. No doubt there are plenty more around.

  Too funny, we are coming to the Keys Sunday, and going shark diving in Jupiter on Sunday morning before heading down.  My daughter said "It would be so cool if we saw a Great White!"  The wife replied "I hope he swims really slow"
