Trolling motor issue

Duval_Angler21Duval_Angler21 JacksonvillePosts: 3 Greenhorn
I have the minnkota ulterra ipilot and i am having an issue with it. The issue is that I can deploy it and use spotlock but I can't use it to move left or right or forwards or backwards. But it holds me in the same spot with spot lock. There is power to it and two brand new batteries.

I was just curious if anyone has any the same issues before or not.

I also have a Ulterra.First.mine takes three batteries to
    operate,single A's.This I learn from the dealer,pay very
close attention to what the remote is telling you in the
corners of the remote screen and do what it says.Third,
the motor can only go in the direction you tell it to go
mine does not have a reverse.
You did not mention whether the motor can be
    raised or lowered.
You may have a programming issue for the dealer
to fix. When your there have him go over ALL the
functions with you and write them down so you can
refer to them when out on the boat.

Although auto deploy and pickup are nice features on ulterras , many users report problems with being unable to pickup after using. This can be a big deal if you need to raise it quickly. Stick with the MK Terrova. Manual deploy and pickup are much more reliable.

I had a very similar problem with mine as well. Quick question, when your own spot lock Does the trolling motor correct itself, such as turning left and right on its own? If it does not then the problem I had was the same. It was the motherboard on the base unit, not the one on the top of the motor. Hope this helps.

Do you have the heading sensor installed? Need that for the jog functions.
