Kings and cobia Thursday st Augustine
Fished early today out of st Augustine targeting kingfish. Found pogies a few miles north of the inlet by the beach club in 10 feet of water. One throw was all I needed to fill the livewell and let a bunch go. Ran northeast and hit live bottom and some structure between 6 and 7 miles out. The wind got very nasty and I was actually thinking about quitting 30 minutes in, but it layed down and settled down. Caught some nice kings on the slow troll. Ended up with a treble hook in the thumb thanks to kingfish #2. Cut the hook and poked barb end out the other side, that was fun. Then caught 2 cobia, one was short, the other I kept at 37 inches fork length. Ran in against a rough south wind, got back just in time for some storms and conference calls... all in all a solid day on the water. Things are fishy with the storm coming.
