Summertime blues

Been hitting the beach every day for tarpon. Put a few in the air  but today they just wouldn't come close enough to get a decent shot at. Might have to invest in a spey rod to reach them when they are stubborn like this. It was fun to watch while it lasted. Once boats started showing up they just ran them over.

My fly of choice to match the hatch.

    That fly looks perfect.
Is spey casting for longer casts?
Or, for longer casts without having room for your back-cast?

Spey is both for limited space and distance. Just need the **** to come back over to the beach so i only need a 20-40ft cast

Looks like some of the same glass minnow schools I was fishing by ft. Pierce last week. Found some snook busting them but still no tarpon. Should it keep getting better as the summer goes on? I'm really wanting to get a nice snook or tarpon on the fly from the beach.

No likely it is about over. The minnows usually only last about 3 weeks. If you get a big run maybe 5 weeks. I go from beach to beach until i find the which pod has the tarpon on them.
