SW Meat trip 5/4

This past weekend has been the 2 busiest boating days I have ever seen.  Fort DeSoto ramp was at capacity by 10am both days.  I wasn’t sure if there would be any fish left for us on Monday but the weather conditions were ideal and the the crew were eager.  We were wet at the crack of 7:30 and heading SW.  35 miles later a few spots were producing lanes, vermillion and huge ARS.  The water was blue and super clear.  I could see my bait 60’ down.  Another spot was full of Reef Donkeys and Almaco.  Mixed in we could see a few cobia.  Tried to cull for the cobia but the jacks were too aggressive.  Finally moved over to the honey hole and filled the 150 quart cooler with lanes and 7 red grouper.  Two of the lanes were 20” and 18.5”….huge and fat.  Even had a school of peanuts circle the boat a few times.  The flat line yielded a sneaker head… not the intended black fin.  I did not expect a day like that but was sure glad we went!
