I came out of duck season...and did some snipe hunting and then the youth waterfowl hunt but only got one day of fishing / looking around prior to my birthday since a 2 month layoff which had the patterns completely changed. I managed to get out on my birthday....and as a present the fish gods gave me a slam. I fished between Wabasso and Vero and was still in look around mode but places I expected fish...generally had them. It was a hybrid day with a few trout on the CAL but the snook and Red came on the few wigglers I could scrounge up. Water was generally clean most places. So that was #1 for the year.
I went back the next day ( thur 13th) and it was just trout....but this one will take a while to beat I think...
Several things conspire to keep me from fishing for almost 2 weeks...weather....wife violently sick...more bad weather....wife needing to be taken to the surgery center for spinal shots...and more bad weather. Every decent weather day was boogered by something....but not today. I had my buddy David on the skiff and it was kinda slow...picking a trout here and there and a ladyfish here and there....but saw monster snook that were just sunning. That was till the tide got higher and I went up shallow... Picked off this Red on a white CAL.
Spent some time looking for a snook...any snook....till I found this one.....
and that makes #2 slam...unimpressive ? ...yes...but all 3 target species.
Water is getting dirty in some spots and not sure if it was all that wind...or an algae bloom.
Many things to do.
