  You can get 10" keepers in the Homosassa and Crystal Rivers.  The canals are full of them right now.   12"+ keepers are plentiful in Federal waters from 30' on out.  The trick is to find the rocks with the highest relief. These are more likely to hold good numbers of snapper.  They often won't bite during the day unless you fire them up with a lot of chum.  There were a lot of nice sized (16"-20") mangroves around this year.  The biggest ones are out on the Middle Grounds in 90'-120' where 5 lb+ fish are not uncommon.

  Thanks guys, Doc I’ve got a number in the grounds where We drift with a half a sardine and get either a big Mangrove or nice Red Grouper.! My two favorite eaters..  What about the arti reef with chum this time of year?

  I haven't been out to the CR artificial reef this year, but January is usually the best time unless it gets really cold. You should bet both snapper and sheepshead if you use shrimp.  You need to chum with shrimp if that's what you'll be using for bait. Otherwise cut threadfins or sardines for snapper.  It's often tricky to get the drift of the bait just right or they will ignore it.
