Little Freshwater 11-17 & 11-18

Since saltwater you can't fish saltwater much because of the regulations,  freshwater is still an option till they find a way to screw that up. Spent 11-17 on pine log chasing bass and jacks  (chain pickeral)  ended up with 10 pretty good bass and 7 jacks.   Decided to try Holmes creek on the 18th,  but the bite was really off and we loaded the boat and headed home about 2pm with only 3 bass and 3 jacks.  Still  beautiful weather and great scenery!!

Dang Klinger, y'all had a nice day.
    That's a pretty spot.

Scale them, filet, and remove the rib cage, and gash them flesh side up all the way to the skin.  They have a bunch of tiny liltle bones, so you have to gash them like you would a Sucker.  1/4 inch sounds abou right.  Pretty white flesh and very tasty.

Good job Klinger. That creek is a favorite of mine. And next time put those jacks back, they are the best fighting fish in freshwater! :)

That is a nice mess of fish. We used to fish Spring Creek (Miller/Seminole Co. GA. ) in the fall and catch them like that.
Hurricane Michael pretty much ruined any navigation to speak of on that part of the creek.

Those jack are fun to catch.  We use to fish a creek between Pearson & Homerville it was full of big jack & mudfish.  That was a long time ago.

I think that technically, they are Chain Pickerel, which is a first cousin to the Northern Pike

I asked because they certainly look a bit like small northern pike and we call those "jacks".
The chain pickerel seems to have a slightly more pointed nose, but the similarity between northern pike, pickerel and muskies is very close.
Unfortunately we do not have pickerel or muskies here.

Incidentally, I am currently on an island enjoying tropical weather, that has no freshwater fish at all, other than that, its a beautiful place.

Cheers Robert, same to you and yours.
I have tried to find some old people packing bags at supermarkets, so I can give them a good tip as penance for enjoying myself, but there aren't any here.
Its a shame that I can't do a penance, but an even bigger shame that I have to pack my own bags. B)
