Just discovered this video last weekend. These guys drove all the way from Dallas just to put themselves in the middle of a cat 5. Their car gets shredded but they made it out okay.
The "stadium effect" they experience in the eye of the storm has always fascinated me. Storm footage starts at 6:37.
I would like to know where that was. Looks like Tyndall parkway and business 98? I noticed the traffic lights were still on.
Looks to me like it's on Highway 98 at one of the entrances to Tyndall. They abandon the car when the eye comes over and end up seeking shelter in the Tyndall Visitor's Center.

Probably right. I have seen some of the videos made by the Air Force security cops that stayed on Tyndall, incredible.
I really don't like folks that travel to storms and try to capitalize on other folks misfortune..
Yeah it's interesting but...
I am glad to only be a bird hunter with bird dogs...being a shooter or dog handler or whatever other niche exists to separate appears to generate far too much about which to worry.

I don't really mind those guys doing what they did. I think the documentation of this storm's power is important. My opinion would differ, however, if they were injured and then took up law enforcement and rescue resources that could've gone to someone else. They were extremely lucky they weren't injured by flying debris or a collapsed ceiling in the building they entered.
That was pretty intense. I don't think there were any atheists in that car once the window blew out. Seeing the real power of that wind at the peak should make you think again about staying through a severe storm.
That's right, they wrote the contract, you can change it but it's going to cost you, pay now or pay later. I'm taking my chances, I wouldn't have insurance if it wasn't for liability. That's another group.

This place is still a mess, but everyone has learned to keep on keeping on. That's what we do.
