  Don't like them much myself either tbh, i was just impressed with the fight they put up. Back in texas people would bash them in the head with a billy club.

  Yeah they jumped,  but it was the drag peeling runs that impressed me.

  Most annoying fish in the state, bar none! Just as annoying as a bunch of mosquitoes. I don't go looking to hook up with em, but they often tend to like my lure presentation. So much so that during the warmer months when they're most annoying, I take a second rod already set up with a circle hook. "IF" I manage to hook one up, their livers make excellent Catfish bait. If I catch more than I need, well frozen liver bait is better than none and coons, possums etc all get a hearty meal, even if I don't want the livers.

  The fish i hate most are spotted sunfish. They take over what should be great bluegill areas and they are rarely big enough to warrant keeping.

  Hey Louie. Did you ever catch on of those big gar in the Suwannee? I remember you were on a quest to catch one.

  FYI - Gar is pretty good eating. Many years ago, like in the late 70's or 80's, there was a FS article about gar and poor man's lobster... now I'm wishing I hadn't given away my 25+ years of magazines. Maybe FSBlair can dig up the article.

  Alot of my best crappie fishing has been on nights when i was hooking loads of gar.

  Around here alot of gar seem to show up when the water should be at a low oxygen level I say.should be because I don't have a way to check it.  But the gar and the armored catfish are both gulping air
