Let me save the viewers some time and proselytizing:

    Praise the lord,
    crack crab in half,
    insert hook,
    cast out & fish, then
praise the lord again & amen.

    Did that about cover it?

I have to imagine God, a man in charge of all the world, has better things to do than make sure I catch fish.

Not a bad summary, but the size and type of hook, as well as how it is inserted through the crab are also important.  Our success rates also improved once we standardized on how we separate the cab in half and also when we started always removing the claws.

Yes he does.  But God is big enough to answer smaller prayers as well as larger ones.  When he was on earth and taught us to pray, Jesus said part of our prayers is to ask for our daily bread.

Odin (the one true god) does not care if you catch a fish

We prefer cutting whole market crabs in half both for faster dissemination of scent and to ensure better hook ups. Half crabs also tend to catch more gafftops, slot reds, and slot drum.

Some times whole crabs are better:
    1. Crabs are on the small side.
    2. Sea catfish (hardheads) are picking cracked crabs apart so quickly that frequent rebaiting is needed.
    3. You prefer not to catch gafftops.
    4. Crabs are in short supply. 1 whole crab will last much longer than two halves - usually lasting until you catch a fish big enough to eat it.
