St.Marks 3.24.19 - Wyatt's First Fish

It's been a while since I've checked in.  Life has been busy, in a good way.  I still lurk around here every week or so and enjoy the conversation even though I'm not a participant.

A quick report from today out of St.Marks.

Wyatt (2.5 YO) has been practicing his fishing rod all winter long in preparation for catching his first fish.  Despite the 65 degree water temps inshore, he was convinced we'd catch Daddy's favorite fish, a Cobia, today.  Instead, Wyatt pulled a rabbit out of his hat and caught something I never have....a Pompano!  On a Mickey Mouse rod and reel using live shrimp under a cork he caught a dang keeper Pomano for his first fish.  To say I was surprised is an understatement.  Wyatt, on the other hand, was humbly unimpressed.  He quickly moved on to trout, catfish and lots of shrimp tossing over the side.

I've never been so nervous to net a fish and I pray to never forget this day.  Tight lines!
