Still stuck with shorts out of Yankeetown
Headed out Weds on the rising tide and worked our way out north a few miles to the bars -- out toward the Trout Stake north of the channel -- fished them pretty hard with shrimp and plastics -- nothing. Looking pretty grim as we headed back to the channel and river with nary a bite to show for the afternoon. Got back into the river and fished some holes -- nothing but silver perch and ladyfish. Were about to leave when the tourist tarpon left and the trout moved in. Caught about 20-25 fish in 14' of water but only one keeper. It was late afternoon, high tide, about 64 degree water. Have about given up on the trout -- will head out for sheepshead next time out.
