  The old barge canal has lots of areas to fish and the end of hiway 40 has gulf access . Water temp will have some fish in the creeks.

  Thank you for your tips! I’ll give these places a try in the coming weeks. I’ve heard good things about the creeks but are there any accessible on foot or do I need a boat/kayak?

  Boat or kayak would be best. Generally the creeks in question are hard to get to walking. Watch out for oysters and wear appropriate footwear. Google earth will show some accessible by vehicle .

  If you can get your hands on a kayak or canoe ( borrow, rent or buy used or new). Shell mound is a great spot closer than cedar key. Not a long paddle. Watch out for low tide

  Been there a few times but never tried fishing. Dont think its get a lot of pressure from where its at. Its a ways out there for sure !

  Hey Prkn,
  On the Ozello Trail out to the ramp there are 2 bridges along the way that I have fished and caught trout,flounder,redfish(25") ladyfish and small mangos.Also at the left turn onto John Brown Rd. there is a small pier that have quite a bit of trout that hang @ it.Just before you get to the ramp there is a stretch of narrow roadway that I've caught mangos and sheepies from. Don't fish from the top of the 1 bridge before Ozello the town,fish the banks. 
  Fish on weekdays........2hrs.before and after the high tides

  Hi Bunkerboy, thank you very much for the tips!! I think I may give this a try this weekend, do you normally use live bait or artificial?

  I use fresh shrimp that I buy from Ed's or Moore's.Ed's is on es of 19 @ Fort Island Trail and Moore's is on Fort Island  Trail app. 1 mi.west of 19.The first bridge you see while on Ozello Trail has a pocket of water on the ns of bridge.....fish at the bottom of the concrete embankment with a cork and 1/8 jighead john Brown Pier is 1/2 mi. west of that bridge on the left side..
