The wife loves the sound and excitement of a casino. I do too, although I could pass. 3 times a year with a limit $400 each .

Last night we went in with $400 each. I swear they see you coming. I always do well first time around the slots.

Last night I won $404 right away on one bet. Of course i put it all back in along with the other $400 machines and didnt win jack squat. Still fun though.

The only thing that sucks at Hard Rock is $16 plus tip for a measured 2.5 OZ drink of booze.

Nope. I like online betting but no casinos for me. Obnoxious drunk people and cigarette smoke = no me.

We hit up the non smoking section. Haven't noticed drunks, most are pretty much into those machines. Not like Vegas where drinks are free.

No free drinks? Do the Vegas casinos still give free drinks?

Yes they do. Free drinks and smokes. Not here. Measured pour. My bar tab is well over $100. They pour 1 1/4 oz  measured pour. I have been to other casinos that have a one ounce pour machine.

One drink will buy a 1.75 liter bottle. That pisses me off. I'm not cheap, but give me a break.

Take a water bottle full of vodka and save yourself well over a hundred bucks. If they poured you a fat drink I would be fine. Those 1 0z machines for 8 bucks ****  me off.

Casinos are best viewed from 10 miles away through a good 400mm lens on a clear night.  Pretty at night but a total dump.....and so dangerous you'd be crazy to walk the streets.....but visitors are oblivious because the crimes don't get a lot of coverage.

I walk into a casino and wonder who the hell falls for this crap. Ooooohh blinky lights and weird noises? Got that crap out of my system playing donkey kong in 1981.

I used to go to Vegas twice a year. My buddy paid for everything and did all the gambling. My job was to keep an eye out for the free cocktail waitresses. They'd genrally come by real fast every 30 minutes, unless you're tipping $5 or $25 chips.

    I almost miss those days.

The guy that did our fire sprinkler installs on multi family projects was a big gambler. He played blackjack.

He flew out to Vegas every Friday after work and flew home every Sunday. 52 weeks per year. Year in and year out.

He finally stopped going. He said it was too much work for $100,000 average net per year.

I sure wouldn't have done it for that. I always assumed he was making huge money.

There are a lot of suicides in casino parking lots.

    Bunch of losers.

It can be relatively cheap entertainment or expensive.  Depends on what you need to keep yourself entertained.   It IS a losing proposition and if you go into it knowing that then fine.  I was had Hard Rock Tampa on New Years day and saw the new slot machine area.  It took 15 minutes to find a parking spot.....    No shortage of cash flow there.   To each their own.  Other guys spend $200k on a boat and sell it 5 years later with low hours for $100k.   If it is your money, spend it like you want :)

For me it is something the wife loves, I like it too. After being together for 42 years there is not a lot that gets you both excited and having a good time.

It is just entertainment for us and we get happy and laugh a lot. We make money thru the night, but end up putting it all back in . We know that going in and have a great time

I know plenty of people that spend a fortune going out doing other things that wouldn't put one penny in a slot machine.

I'm not much of a gambler but will play blackjack if in a casino which isn't often. I have a friend who lives in Lake Charles, LA and hits the casinos at least twice per week. He plays blackjack exclusively and allots himself 5K per week to play. He wins some and he loses some but as he said he doesn't chase women and he doesn't drink so he can afford to gamble.  BTW, he can afford the 5 K even if he lost everytime

My neighbor owns a company that puts together gambling junkets for high rollers to various gambling destinations and sometimes on cruise ships.  The junkets are free as long as the participant can establish a high line of credit at the casino and agrees to gamble a certain amount of time while there.

I've been to Vegas five times and have collectively probably lost a couple of thousand dollars, never enough to be comped anything but a free cocktail, which cost me a $5 tip.

Funny thing is, the wife loves the casino. I'm ok with it, yet never bought a lottery ticket in my life. No fun standing in line at the Kwiki Mart. We don't do it for the money.

I have been to Vegas three times. As I told a friend who was telling how much he won at the Casino, I am the only person I know who ever loses money at the casino. How do they stay in business?

Everyone that plays at the casino wins.  Problem is you lose more than you win.   I get a kick out of them saying they give back 90%.  If course, put in $100 and get back $90.  Put the $90 back in a get back $81.  Put the $81 in - well you get it.  Walk out with $0.00.  All along they gave you back 90%.

I've been to Biloxi a few times. I can take it or leave it, not really my thing.
