Possible Relocation to Niceville Area - suggestion

Hey Panhandle crew-
Might possibly be relocating from Central Florida to the Niceville, FL area shortly for a new job with a company out on Miramar Beach.
Of of course I can’t afford to live on the beach side so I’m looking for advice as far as alternatives. I’ve been to Crestview several times, but I’m thinking that would be a haul everyday out to the island.
How are the schools for the kids (Elementary-Middle)?
Heading up there this week for an in person interview and plan to do some browsing around.
it would just be me for a couple months until the kids finish school down here and the wife keeps her job for a while.
Any suggestions are appreciated!
