Canal LM Bass

Hey guys,

Looking for some advice on techniques for largemouth bass in a particular canal. I've been doing ok in smaller canals with Zenkos. Got my PB last week (5 pounds | 20"): CPR.

Where I need help is on a larger canal that I recently discovered. There is a one mile stretch between two locks that is approximately 100' across, has a good 10 to 20' of veggitation on both banks and has a lot of open deep water in between. Water color is dark stained. I walked one side yesterday throwing senkos in the open water and on the way back I used a Chatterbait with several different retrieves. Looking for any advice anyone is willing to share.  I release 100% of the bass I catch.

We have caught some bass at the locks: 3 pounds is the biggest so far. I just haven't learned how to fish away from the locks yet.

Most of my fishing experience has been with Salmon, Trout and Steelhead (Smallmouth Bass and Walleyes too). I'm having fun learning how to catch LM Bass since moving down here a couple years ago.

Thank you in advance.

Dragging any type of Texas rigged plastic will always produce! Worms, tubes, lizards, etc.

Once in a blue I try for bass. Unweighted curly tail worms are my go to, but my local canal is narrow and nothing like you describe
