Home East Central General Fishing & The Outdoors

port canaveral dec 18

went offshore today from port Canaveral. headed southeast due to space x launch. got to 2 miles from  1st ridge of pelican flats. nice blue water in 70 ft and 76 degrees. trolled by the king fish boats, no hits. trolled east and found some weeds: no fish. trolled out to 205 ft, no hits or any sign of life and water was 78 degrees. the radio channel 68 was loud with frustrated anglers and no fish. what a difference a week makes. several charter guides came in with some amberjack and trigger fish. no sailfish or dolphin or wahoo. hopefully things get better. still beats a good day at work or taking the wife shopping.

seems like pulling a squid chain or bird in front of a lure, basically any combination of baits can drum up some action when its slow. same with running a bait deep via planer, weight, ect.... food for thought!
