9/26 nearshore trip

There was a lot of scattered grass all over out there today and trolling was tough. Bait or gulp on the 12' rocks, or around the spoil island passes might be a better way to go.

A full moon and thunderheads dead ahead ... not too promising. A good thing I was only going a short way out and planning on doing some light tackle trolling. Light rods and nothing over 12 pound test line.

Early on there was a little chop, but not bad, and it leveled out about 10.

Didn't see the first sign of Spanish today, and the water temperature is still 86 - 87 degrees. That's the same as it was last week when I got a bunch. I did troll up 3 small Jacks and a Trout and pulled the hook on another Trout, so they're still holding out there and not all inshore yet.

Also got a King on a light 12# rig that I had out for Spanish. A good fight, and the first run took out 150 yards,  followed by several shorter runs, and then 4 times around the boat.

Ran back in to the landing and beat the storms that were building.

The boat got a good rinse on the way back to the house in the rain.

MY WORST FEAR......THAT WHEN I DIE MY WIFE WILL SELL ALL MY BOATS & FISHING GEAR FOR WHAT I TOLD HER I PAID FOR IT.......

I may not always agree with what you say,
but I will always respect your right to be wrong!
