Some downtown residents have complained about
noise in downtown. City council tasked a committee to investigate and make a
recommendation on a new noise ordinance. The current proposal includes a noise
restriction of 65dB after 11pm. To compare, 60dB is frequently considered a
conversation in restaurant or background music. 65dB is someone laughing. Many
people appear to be against the ordinance as it will have a profound impact on
downtown businesses and our (VI and SA) from enjoying downtown while living in
a quiet community. Many of us chose not to live downtown because we understand
it will be louder. If people do not contact city council, this ordinance has a
good chance of passing. If you are against the strict ordinance, please email
city council with the subject line - DO NOT pass the new noise ordinance.

I did look it up and 65 db is ridiculous. These folks that purchased million dollar condos in downtown st. pete knowing it has become a nightlife mecca are now trying to take that away.
