I normally am willing to run these discussions into the ground.  Not this one.  FWC will do whatever and most will then comply with the laws and regulations as dictated. IMO with very few exceptions the days of the subsistence hunter feeding the family primarily with wild game are in the past.  The "good old days" are just that - the old days.  Time to come into the 21st century.  Tag and report is just another tool to help spread the available resources amongst an ever increasing population.

To me, it's a better way to measure how management approach is effecting the resource to determine if they are producing the desired outcome or not.

A little paranoia can go a long way.  Without doing a state by state search I'm betting more states than not have a reporting system of some type in place for deer and other big game.  Their wildlife agencies will have a clue as to what is harvested in their respective states.  Florida always gives a best guess when giving kill stats with no real idea of what is taken by all their exempts or private property hunters.  A bad and outdated system

Other States do a lot more managing the resource and not the hunter. If we saw FWC managing the resource better people wouldn't be so against all these new restrictions being put in place. Or being suggested. Why do they even have scientists on board if they dont use science now to make decisions?

Managing the resource user is universal to all states. You won't find a single one that has unlimited access to any regulated game species.

In the case of deer, which states have no seasons or bag limits? There may be more quota hunts here than most states but there are also no other states with longer seasons or a more liberal bag. Probably also no other state with as much state-owned property that is closed to hunting.

So....? Agree no other state like florida with as much land closed to hunting AGREED.
Agreed. no other state with as much quota hunting Florida Agreed again.

So what does having seasons or bag limits have ot do with Florida not managing the resource and managing the hunter?

Our "liberal" bag limit as you call it is merely a token phrase because we dont have a buck limit, but rest assured in many other states more people kill more deer per yr than people of FLorida.
