I keep telling my customers, "the more metal you put in the water, the less bites you will get", be it a swivel, leader, hook size, lead size. The more metal you can eliminate from your rig, the more fish you will catch. Sometimes, a wire leader or swivel or larger hook is necessary, but not always. Just like the guys that buy a pre-made grouper rig, (they are crimped - metal crimps) Learn to tie a knot and make your own.
Only swivel I would use and thats a ball bearing swivel is with a gold spoon. But with a Sampo ball bearing siwivel is it costs more than the spoon but w/o swivel you will get line twist.
You only get line twist if you rip the spoon in for the last few feet and it spins. As long as you let it wobble, you won't get twist with a loop knot.
A two part question. (1) If you are using braid and tie direct to mono leader and using a spoon, will I get line twist? (2) Same only using mono to mono

I have not had any issues tying my leader directly to the braid when using spoons.
