Hillsboro 8/11 - great mixed bag day - pic heavy

Father sons fishing trip on Saturday.  We haven't got out as much as we wanted this summer and committed to a trip before the boys go back to school.  I know that for many of you this is a typical trip, but for my weekend warrior crew this turned out to be a banner day.  Mixed bag of bonitos, kings, tuna and phins.

Kings, tuna and bonito trolled on spoons and planer combos.  The bonito were thick, kept a few for bait and future trips.  Found kings in 120-160.  Kept 2, released 4.  Both keepers were personal bests for the boys at 27FL and 31FL.  Youngest caught his king on a trout rod using a small xrap... great watching the little guy play out the fish unassisted by big bro and dad.  Blackfin Tuna around 180.  Kept one and lost one boatside to the hook falling out of the spoon (note to self to make sure the hook attachment screws are tight!).

Dolphin in 1200.  Caught a nice bull on a live pilchard on drift in some scattered weeds. Moved half mile north and found a nice weed mat, hooked multiple shorts but managed two keepers at 22/23.  Cleared hillsboro at 7 and were back at the ramp by 2.  A fantastic day - we were on fish nonstop 10mins after running south of the inlet and left only because some dark clouds started rolling in.  Pics attached.
