Recently I just replaced my LU on 2004 Suzuki 225, I am wondering what the value of my old one would be. The gears do need to be replaced and seals need to be re-done, the propshaft and driveshaft are in good condition.
Save it in case you hit something and need a new shaft, I can't see a lot of value in that with bad gears, but if someone needs a shaft you might get something for that. Advertise it on craigs list for parts maybe.

To most it is scrap value. It has the most value to you as a spare. If you find somebody with a 2004 Suzuki 225 and needs these parts then they are worth about 1/2 the price of new in good condition.
there are shops that rebuild them,,I replaced a lower unit in my mercury 250 in the past and the unit ,brand new out of the box was in the $5,000.00 range, not sure what Suzuki lower units go for .
