Stingwray 7/13/18 A bonus fish on this trip

On today's trip I had my brother, his son,and some of their coworkers aboard. The day's forecast called for five to ten mph south west wind and one foot seas or less. It was a calm day which sure made it easier on some of guys who had to be back to Georgia by 8:00pm for work. So had to get them back to dock early making it a short trip. We ended up boxing red snapper, blk snapper, grouper,b-liners
lane snapper and a bonus Cobia. Another great day on the gulf with family and friends.
Crew with some of day's catch with remaining fish iced down in cart.
Catch em up they are chewin the hooks off.

Tonight's dinner fresh blackend and grilled red snapper, grouper and cobia.
The 2018 red snapper season has  been a grind and taken its toll on  the ole Captain of F/V stingwray. We are going to finish off the season next week with a bang.

Nice haul right there.  Awesome on that Cobia!  Did you get it bottom fishing or on a flatline?

Thanks,  the cobia was caught up top on water. Just wish we could show all the day's catch but we are limited due to the fish board. So it's all good just leave other fish  in a cold bath of ice water in cart.

That is what a great trip looks like!  And the supper looks pretty good too.

I'm fairly new to fishing out of PCB.  Doing well with snapper (no surprise), but cant find a grouper even with every kind of bait there is.  I think I have to get deeper than 100'.  Can you give me an idea of what depth you find them?  Thanks

Hey there Limitless! Good to see you still around.

Though grouper are in shallow like the bay but as it gets hot they seem to move deeper when fishing the gulf. I'm not the deep water specialist so others may be better qualified to answer your question.

You still go south for snook? ;^)

Hey Stingwray, I take it your last name is Wray. Me too. Any ties to New York. I was born and raised in Jacksonville Fl but most of the Wray’s are from NY.

This year have caught grouper from 70-200ft plus. Let me say this i am not a grouper guru all i do is just soak baits for em. Maybe one of the local grouper gurus will chime in giving you more info on how they do it.

This week we just closed on our beach house. It's 1900ft from the white sands and beautiful emerald waters of the gulf. We are within 540ft from historical St. Andrews Bay with our own private dock. This gives my lovely wife more beach time. Also giving me and the ole Contender more time to bump the offshore waters of the gulf.
    Catch em up
