Where are these “cages”? Just because there is a chain link fence surrounding the area doesn’t mean it’s a cage. Every school around here looks like a prison now. The overwhelming majority of those kids were separated 1500 miles away back in their home country. Which speaks volumes about their “parents “.
Unlike the USA, you can't really hide in the city-state of Singapore
This is the biggest difference. I agree with you that the United States should be tougher. I like the idea of being able to tell someone to leave and they do it. By contrast we barbaric Americans savagely give our illegals free housing, free food and free health care and free education. If the area that kept the illegals in one place while awaiting their due process had bars instead of chain link would that make a difference?
It is a huge difference, Gary, and thanks for pointing it out. That and the other factors discussed above combine for a very effective immigration result....without using children as a deterrence -- for me, it's just that simple of an observation.
Rather than be cynical about what "we barbaric Americans" give or don't give "our illegals" -- the vast majority of whom get none of those things, incidentally -- why not simply acknowledge the point I was making rather than continue to parse the words I'm using finer and finer?
I'd like to think you don't really like treating children like this at all, but you simply think that illegal immigration is a bigger problem than I do...and it's worth noting that, thankfully, the current administration as at least partially changed course on how we treat children.
