Grinding along

The weekend and today I have been trying to get out a bit earlier. The heat is crushing and staying in the game after 11 or 12 has just gotten to be too much. I am trying to quit by 10 ish and will just accept the zero in the Red column if I have to. Oddly, It was a Trout that held me out on Saturday. I had 3 small snook and a small Red and had a large trout on topwater in the dark...there was enough moon to see her clearly...and see the chug bug fly out of her mouth....ouch.

Yesterday,  I tried almost the same thing pattern wise. I lost a nice trout early again but did get a 30 inch snook in the dark..sadly, No photo...I did not know how to turn the flash on my phone camera... I will ask my son about it.  I ran down to were I lost the big Trout Saturday and caught two decent size ones on the chug bug .....and a mangrove snapper.

I switched to the White CAL and caught a couple small snook but as soon as I had seeing light...I pinned a mullet on and went looking.  It took a long while and had a couple hard refusals till I saw one moving away from me. I kept presenting and in somewhat frustration...I lobbed it long to an overhanging point and stayed still. It worked.

31 inches....and that makes # 53   Done at 10 AM

Today I overslept a little...but was still earlier than my normal. First thing there is fish busting in the ramp and I'm thinking it could be snook....loose my chug bug to a large ladyfish...I hear her jumping in the dark trying to shake it.
Get launched and run down south and try a few baits and pull hooks on a good snook and break off another.  Nothing else and Topwater guy texts me a pic of a nice snook he got.... I hear a loud "pop" and move that way and look up shallow and here is a nice snook just laying there....get the CAL in it's face and it is game on...

27 inches....
The thing I noticed was thew water got very tannin stained since yesterday.

Looking for a Trout but I wind up moving back north and finding a little knot of small fish...get 5 on the chug bug and now I can look for a Red... and look...and look..  I had promised myself I would not go back and mess with that group of big fish because nothing will kill a spot like a daily beating...I felt sure I could find others.  Saw a small one...and a couple trout...and a large snook....Move to a spot I had not been and got lucky...refused by the 4 large trout...but got this guy.

Very silvery.  So that makes #54 and I'm done just after 10...

OK, here is my fish from this morning. This brute launched out of the Mangroves and attacked my little Spook Puppy. Missed on the first try, went for strike 2 and got a snout full of trebles. Could not get it into the net, lipped it.

So, Today I am out just after 5...But, I can see clouds & rain coming in off the ocean south of me. I decide I will hang closer to the ramp till I can figure out what the weather is going to do. Threw the CAL and jumped off a small snook. Moved to a current edge  and got on the board with a good snook.

27 inches.... caught 3 more little 16-18 incher snook then left.
Started looking for a Trout and pulled 3 nice size ones and a couple ladyfish on the chug bug. Went looking for Redfish...Yesterdays spot the water was trash... I finally saw a fish after 9 AM but got refused...then saw a pair and got double refused!  I saw a fish up under the mangroves and pitched...but was just another nice Trout.
